Work-Based Learning

Work-based learning, or apprenticeship, is a form of vocational education in which the student will complete 1/3 of the studies at school and 2/3 of the studies at a company.

Work-based learning provides an opportinity to learn the profession via working under the supervision of masters in the field. The curriculum for the student is completed in cooperation between the vocational school and the company.

By 2018, 4200 places will be available for students to participate in work-based learning. The respective target for the year 2020 is 7,200 places.

Work-based learning is suitable for many – for young people acquiring their first specialty, for adults acquiring a new specialty, for workers for supplementation of the specialized knowledge and skills, and to improve their qualifications.

Work-based learning is being developed by Innove. In cooperation with the Estonian Employers’ Confederation, entrepreneurs and vocational education institutions, we create additional student places for work-based learning, organize training courses for coordinators of work-based learnin. We help share information and best practices between schools and employers.
